The Common Blue Butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) is a small bluish butterfly, the females are mainly brown with some blue, and the males being mainly blue in colour. They can be found in woodland, grassland, meadows, heaths and even sand dunes. Nectar from a variety of plants is their main foodsource. The common blue is usually seen when the sun shining.
On a visit to a local nature reserve called Clayton Vale Nature Reserve in Clayton, Manchester, I saw quite a few butterflies, mostly fleeting glimpses, which means next year will most certainly be going again to video them.
NOTE: I hope to redo this video with some better video footage, not really had a chance to visit the Clayton Vale too often.
